TEIA
Governance & Planning
The Trefethen-Evergreen Improvement Association (TEIA) was established in 1912 as a civic organization dedicated to supporting and improving the Peaks Island community. The contemporary mission of the Association is to support the Peaks Island community as an educational, community, historic, arts, and recreational organization for families and children residing and visiting Peaks Island in Casco Bay.
TEIA offers facilities, programs, and scholarships that support participation by people of all ages in sailing, boating, water safety, racquet sports, youth camps, and performing and visual arts. TEIA also sponsors lectures and other educational programs on history, current affairs, literary, art, music, cultural and other topics of interest, and supports the work of other non-profit organizations on Peaks Island.
TEIA is a 501(c)3 organization overseen and directed by an 18-member volunteer Board of Governors elected by the Association’s membership. Its facilities include a clubhouse constructed in 1914-15 that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its historical significance.
