T'AI CHI FOR HEALTH & RELAXATION

Wednesdays from July 8 to August 12 from 10:45 a.m. to 12 noon

David S. Handwerker has more than 40 years of study, practice and teaching.

 

This class will include eight simple exercises, animal frolics, eight brocades, standing meditation and a whole lot more. We will be on our feet moving for over an hour. Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear.

ART CLASSES

 

Screenprinting Workshop: Wednesday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Learn the basics of screen printing (or come expand your skills!) in this beginner class taught by island artist Daisy Braun. Create bold designs and print them yourself! $80 per participant; all materials included. Bring a bag lunch. This class is limited to 10 students. Open to kids 12+ and adults. Drawing for Fun: Wednesday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

Come explore your love of drawing with island artist Daisy Braun! We will experiment with a range of pencils, pastels, markers and more, to create new creatures and inventions on paper. Kids (age 7+) will also draw each other, taking fun narrative poses. Drawing both from observation and imagination is encouraged. $50 per student; all materials are included. BIG FOOD, BIG IMAGINATION: Wednesday, July 8 from 10 am to 12 pm

 

Create oversized food art with children's book author/illustrator Susan X. Fang. Susan X. will lead a hands-on workshop based on her popular book DIM SUM PALACE. Comics & Characters: Wednesday, July 15 from 10 a. to 1 p.m.

 

Kids ages 7 and up create their own comics and characters in this workshop with island artist Daisy Braun. Find inspiration in playful drawing games, group collaboration, and your imagination! We will explore a range of drawing media together. $50 per student; all materials are included. Bring a bag lunch or snacks. Figure Drawing: Wednesday, July 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

Develop your hand in this drawing class for all levels (adults 18+), taught by island artist Daisy Braun! We will have the chance to draw from a live, clothed model, and explore a range of drawing media together. $55 per participant; some materials are included. The class is limited to 12 students. Create Characters with Mixed Media Puppets!: Wednesday, August 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

 

Join author/illustrator/mixed media artist Lucky Platt in creating characters by making mixed media puppets. Illustrators often create 3-D characters to draw from and imagine stories with. Lucky will provide the basics of hand puppets to be embellished by the class with a variety of media. She'll lead the group in imagining who their puppets might be!
