About TEIA

Location
The Trefethen Evergreen Improvement Association (TEIA) is located on Peaks Island, one of Casco Bay’s “calendar islands.” Peaks is the most accessible island, located approximately one nautical mile from Portland, Maine's largest city. It's a twenty minute ferry ride on Casco Bay Lines which operates ten to thirteen ferry runs a day depending on the time of year. The island has somewhere around one thousand year round residents, but that number can swell to six thousand in July and August at the height of the summer rental season. Peaks Island has a long history as a summer community and summer is in marked contrast to the quieter life the rest of the year.

History
The Trefethen-Evergreen Improvement Association began its work for the Peaks Island community in the 1920s. More
